In Fall 2022, a new team of Public Administration Student Organization (PASO) officers Sharon Baillie (President), Melanie Martin (Vice President), Jared Kawatani (Treasurer), Tristan Bones (Secretary) and Moises Ayala (Student Liaison) gathered to plan out community service events and speaker series panels for PUBA graduate students. Dr. ChiaKo Hung, the PUBA faculty leader, helped lead the team. 

PASO organized eight (8) events during the 2022-2023 school year:

  • September 2022 –  Service Day at Maunalua Bay
  • October 2022 – Honolulu PRIDE Cleanup
  • November 2022 – Hawaii Food Bank Senior Box Packing
  • December 2022 – Service Day at Aloha Animal Sanctuary
  • January 2023 – Service Day at Aloha Animal Sanctuary (so popular, we scheduled again!)
  • February 2023 – PASO Speaker Series: Leaders in the Nonprofit Sector
    • Amy Miller Marvin, President and CEO, Hawaii Foodbank
    • Debbie Spencer Chun, President and CEO, Adult Friends for Youth
    • Matthew Bauer, COO, Kupu Hawaii
    • Lolita Ayala, Executive Director, Aloha Animal Sanctuary 
  • March 2023 –  Service Day at Gregory House Programs
  • April 2023 – PASO Speaker Series: Public Budgeting and Finance Administration in Hawaii
    • Senator Michelle Kidani, Vice President of the Hawaii State Senate, District 18
    • Councilmember Matt Weyer, Budget Committee Vice Chair, Honolulu City Council, District 2
    • Director Luis Salaveria, DEpartment of Budget and Finance, State of Hawaii
