Seungwoo Back was born and raised in South Korea and immigrated to the United States at the age of 18 in pursuit of greater educational and professional opportunities.

Before joining the U.S. Army, Seungwoo was actively involved in community service and nonprofit organizations, where he developed a passion for public service and helping others. He has served in the U.S. Army for eight years as a Patient Administration Noncommissioned Officer (NCO), gaining valuable experience in leadership, healthcare administration, and personnel management.

Currently, Seungwoo is pursuing his Master of Public Administration (MPA) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa while participating in the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). He was recently recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG), ranking among the top 1% of Army ROTC cadets nationwide on the National Order of Merit List. He hopes to commission as an officer in the Medical Service Corps.

Seungwoo chose to pursue an MPA to strengthen his leadership skills, expand his understanding of public policy and government administration, and continue his commitment to public service. Following his military career, he hopes to serve as a federal civilian employee, applying his military leadership experience and public administration education to improve government operations and make a positive impact on the communities he serves.
