PUBA is able to provide limited financial assistance each year. Award criteria include:

  • Both academic merit and financial need
  • For students who are engaged in issues affecting the Hawaiian community
  • For international students
  • For capstone and practicum

Scholarships, accessible through the STAR System, include the D. William Wood Pacific Island Health, Herman S. Doi Memorial Fellowship,  Administrators Endowed Scholarship, Chandler Fellowship, and Pratt.

Please note that receipt of scholarships or stipends can affect your financial aid package amount.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistants (GAs) must maintain full-time status with a minimum of six credits and a maximum of nine credits. All GAs have the option of purchasing health care as an employee of the University of Hawaiʻi. We offer one GA position per year, with preference given to second-year students. PUBA students are welcome to apply for GA positions in other departments.
